Saadani River Lodge is 115km from downtown Dar es Salaam and about 130km from the international airport. You take the road to Bagamoyo historical town – notorious during the slave trade era – and from there you take the gravel road to Matwipili. After 15 km. on the Makurunge village you turn right and take a newly rebuilt gravel road to Gama village right next to Wami River. After 45km from Bagamoyo, you turn right and follow the small black cotton road through the savannah.
Distance (from Dar): 115-130km. Trip duration: 3-3,5 hours
An alternative, but longer way to arrive to the lodge is through Saadani National park, on the other side of the river. You have to follow the Dar es Salaam – Morogoro road, turn right at Chalinzetowards Arusha and after the Wami river bridge leave the tarmac and turn right at Mandera village. After 40km you enter the Saadani National Park, where you have to pay park fees. In 20km you arrive to coastal Saadani village. From there it is 17km to the river jetty from where we can pick you up with our river boat.
